Abstract

For time intervals with intense geomagnetic activity during solar cycle 23, we are interested to study the geoeffective interplanetary structures that were responsible for the development of intense storms and substorms, as well as the solar wind parameters that mostly characterizeded such interplanetary structures. For this aim, we plan to use satellite obsevations near the magnetosphere through already existing collaboration with several foreign research groups. We will also use interplanetary-magnetosphere interaction models in order to describe the external and internal magnetospheric response to the passage of such interplanetary structures. (AU)
