Abstract

This project aims to investigate the electrodynamic coupling between the solar plasma and the Earth magnetosphere by means of the analysis of the interplanetary parameters and the effect of planetary electric currents, in order to characterize the coupling processes. The physical analysis takes into account (1) the forms of treatment of signals and the relation among these signals, (2) the examination of energy transference functions from the solar plasma to the magnetosphere, like for instance the Akasofu epsilon function, and (3) the state variables, the distribution functions and MHD conservation equations. The development will be done based on softwares of free distribution in the GNU/Linux environment. The intended result is the characterization of physical processes and improvements of numerical modeling. (AU)
