Abstract

The heart transplantation is the mean treatment to end-stages of heart failure. The heart reinnervation is poor described, especially the relationship between the cardiac function, autonomic balance and exercise capacity in different years following heart transplantation. AIM: To evaluate the cardiac function, exercise capacity, chronotropic response (resting heart rate, heart rate reserve, peak heart rate, and the heart rate recovery in the first and in the second minutes and the maximal age-predicted heart rate) and the Microvolt T-wave during the cardiopulmonary exercise test and during the six-minute walking test in subjects in the age zero, one, two, three, four and five after heart transplantation. Moreover, to correlate the cardiac function with the heart rate variability, exercise capacity, chronotropic response and Microvolt T-wave after heart transplantation. METHODS: 60 heart transplant recipients (ten for each year) will perform a cardiac function and a heart rate variability analysis, a cardiopulmonary exercise test and a six-minute walking test with the evaluation of the Microvolt T-wave.With these relatively easy parameters, we expect to characterize the reinervation process expressed by the cardiac function, heart rate variability, chronotropic response, exercise capacity and Microvolt T-wave in heart transplant recipients during Ione year of follow up.
