Behaviour of insecticides in indoor environment

Abstract

The insecticides are been broadly used in indoor environments of urban areas. As consequence, a lot of these compounds are been detected inside these environments and adverse effects to health are been associated to the exposition of these compounds. The purposes of this study are: a) measure the concentration of the insecticides dichlorvos, alpha-cypermethrin and deltamethrin in the air and in the surfaces after its application; b) evaluate the effect of the exposition to dichlorvos on the enzymatic activity of rats. The formulated insecticides dichlorvos, alpha-cypermethrin and deltamethrin will be sprayed in a glass chamber of 4,0 m3 and, soon after the application and after 6 and 24 hours, will be collected from the air, by a polyurethane cartridge connected to a vacuum pump, and from the inside surfaces of the chamber; the quantification of the insecticides will be made by gaseous chromatography. Rats will be exposed to the insecticide dichlorvos for 6 and 24 hours and the inhibition of the acetylcholinesterase enzyme of these animals will be measured. (AU)
