Abstract

The use of low level laser therapy (LLLT) has increased in the last years to treat inflamatory and infeccious dysfunctions making necessary an understanding and an explanation of its specific effect. We aimed to evaluate the inflamatory factors modulation in the in vivo immunological processes with the infrared LLLT action. The present project is justified as for to stablish more specific parameters of the application moment and effect of the LLLT in the immune modulation by qualitative and quantitative experimentals to the clinical application. Cutaneous flaps in the back of isogenics mices will be carried to generate an inflammatory process that unchains an immune reply. The LLLT will be applied soon after the surgical proceeding in one group and 6 hours after surgical proceeding in another group, being then compared to the control. These animals will be killed within 12 and 24 hours after surgery to evaluate inflammatory kytocines (IL-1, IL-6, IL-10, TNF, IFN e TGF) by ELISA method. We expect that the application of the postoperative laser in immediate and after 6 hours of the surgery can stimulate the immune system, biomodulating the kytocines release after 12 and 24 hours. The laser application in the immediate postoperative should reduce pro-inflammatory kytocines release and the application after 6 hours should increase antiinflammatory kytocines release. (AU)
