Abstract

The research reviews the formation of monetary economics, in the period 1690-1810. Its main method is the comparison of representative authors proposals and approaches to some main topics of monetary economics. Topics: value of money, specie and non-metallic money, money and prices, circulation, money and trade. Authors: Thomas Mun, Petty, Josiah Child, Dudley North, Locke, Barbon, Cantillon, Galiani, Turgot, James Steuart, Adam Smith, Thornton, Ricardo.I will deal with comparisons and appraisals of representative authors, around our main topics. The final outcome will be four papers, discribed in the project, on the following issues: 1. Locke and quantity theory of money; 2. quantity of money in circulation; 3. value of money; 4. non-metallic money. (AU)
