Abstract

Differentiation programs for normal osteoblasts have been well studied, and at present are well known. On the other hand, the molecular basis of the loss of differentiation associated with the carcinogenesis in still not well understood, and possibly varies among the types of cancers and in different tissues. The diferentiation therapy has been introduced in preclinical and clinical studies with benefits, hoping that the relationships between differentiation and carcinogenesis could be used in the treatment of cancer patients. The focus of the current study is to characterize the aspects linked to the process of differentiation induced by different agents, like lignins, genistein and tricostatin-a in cell culture of canine osteosarcomas. The correlation between differentiation and cell communication will be evaluated. (AU)
