Abstract

This study has the objective to indicate applications of new techniques that overcome the limitations and biases of traditional analysis tools to evaluate the autonomic control of HR as well as the assessment of arterial baroreflex. Still, to propose new models to assess the influence of respiration on bivariate models to make them more suitable. Additionally, to evaluate how these approaches assess cardiovascular oscillatory changes with aging, if these techniques are suitable for all ages or demonstrate more effective in specific age groups. Finally, identify what age the changes in cardiovascular autonomic control are present and thus should be more attention to promove preventive practices, whereas the literature widely describes the relationship between changes in sympathovagal balance and cardiovascular diseases. One hundred subjects will be divided into five groups with 20 individuals each, according to age: 20-30 years, 30-40 years, 40-50 years, 50-60 years, 60-70 years. The ECG, blood pressure and breathing will be collected for 15 minutes in the supine position, after will be realized an active postural change from supine to standing, staying 15 minutes in this position. Linear (spectral analysis) and nonlinear analysis (symbolic analysis, Shannon's entropy, conditional entropy) will be carry out. Farther the causality between the baroreflex and signals will be analyzed (cross-spectral analysis, cross-conditional entropy). The expected results are to identify the adequation of these new techniques in different age groups. Furthermore, identify the age group where the changes in cardiovascular autonomic control are accentuated and thus should be more attention to preventive practices and health promotion. (AU)
