Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the quality of life for athletes considered amateur, semi-professional and professional. With this purpose will be searched volunteer athletes from individual sports and team sports, of both sexes, aged over 18 years. The number of subjects in the sample will be at least forty (40) individuals. Should it be possible to expand the number of individuals to sample will be expanded, provided that all subjects meet the criteria for inclusion in the study. To analyze the quality of life will use the Index of Quality of Life created by Ferrans and Powers (KIMURA 1999). The characterization of athletes regarding amateurism to professionalism will be diagnosed using a structured questionnaire adapted from the basic text of Article 3 of Chapter III of the Federal Law No. 9615, March 1998 entitled Pelé Law (BRAZIL, 1998). Data analysis will be established the Pearson correlation coefficient between the Index of Quality of Life and its areas and its relationship with the different characteristics of the athletes in question. If the data permit, will be used more elaborate statistical techniques to better understand the results. The end result of the study will be presented to athletes and coaches to evaluate the significance and relevance of data as well as raising new possibilities for studies with the same theme. Moreover, the end result will be sent for publication in the format of a scientific paper in the journal. (AU)
