Abstract

The Quality Management (QM) practices have been used by many organizations around the world as part of their strategies for improving competitiveness. The implementation of these practices produces positive effects for improving quality and productiveness in several industrial sectors. However, many cases of failure or results below the expected also exist. At Brazil, although the use of QM practices has spread in the last years, there is not a comprehensive knowledge of the real status of their use in the companies, of the benefits and difficulties of this implementation. The project aims to identify and to analyze the GQ practices used in Brazilian companies considering the aspects that contribute to success or failure of these initiatives. A survey research will be done in the Brazilian companies to diagnose the status of the use of the QM practices and contribute to a better understanding about the difficulties of the implementation and benefits of a successful initiative. The studies will focus in Brazilian companies providing a comprehensive study, enabling a better understanding of the factors that contribute for the initiatives of implementation of quality programs in the companies as well to understand the failure and success causes in the implementation.
