Abstract

Objective: Correlate the results of culture and cytology of dogs with tracheal collapse and compare with a group of health dogs. Animals: Will be used 20 dogs diagnosed with tracheal collapse (group A) and a control group with 20 health dogs (group B). Procedure: The dogs will be evaluated with radiographic exam and bronchoscopy under general anesthesia. During the bronchoscopy will be collected material for cytology, bacterial culture. These materials will provide data to evaluate the inflammation grade, the qualification of bacterial population of the trachea. The results Will be compare between the groups.Justification: To be able to determine a better treatment in dogs affected with tracheal collapse is essential to establish the correlation between the collapse of the trachea, culture and degree of inflammation.
