Abstract

The main applications of HMS-PP are: extrusion of plates, films, thermo-formation, coatings, foams and blowing. The participation of PP in these segments has been limited by its low resistance to melting, which prevents or jeopardizes these processes. These applications represent a market of over 1 million tons in the Northern Hemisphere. In Brazil, OPP estimates that the market for this is around 30,000 tons. The objective of this work was to develop the process of synthesizing HMS-PP based on the original process put forward by IPEN. (AU)
