Abstract
In this project we intend to study the feasibility of using partially entangled statesto perform informational tasks hitherto only possible with maximally entangled states. We divide our efforts on two major fronts. The firstone concerns partially entangled quantum systems of finite dimension. That is, we deal here with qubits. In particular, we want to find ways to accomplish successive teleportation (chain teleportation) efficiently using non-perfectly entangled Bell states. The other front of research will focus on teleportationof infinite dimensional quantum systems, usually known as continuous variable systems. Specifically, we want to study what changes in the original protocol of teleportation can result in an increase of its efficiency. (AU)
