Kinetics and molecular variations of humic substances formed from the decomposition of aquatic macrophytes

Abstract

Considering the macrophytes represent an important part of the biomass of aquatic environments and that their decomposition is an important source of detritus. The aim of this project is to characterize the kinetics and molecular variations in humic substances from the decomposition process of species Salvinia molesta, Egeria najas, Eichhornia azurea and Scirpus cubensis of aquatic macrophytes in the presence and absence of oxygen. For this laboratory bioassays will be performed with incubations containing fragments of plants, on the sample will be evaluated pH,electric conductivity, organic and inorganic carbon, will also be evaluated the formation of humic acid and fulvic acid and its molecular variations by spectroscopic methods.
