Abstract

The objective of this research is to conduct a state-of-art on the academic research in the area music held in Brazil since the creation of the Post-Graduate Programs in Music in 80s. Publications of the Proceedings from the Annual Meetings and Congresses ANPPOM between 1990 and 2010 will be considered the sampling of this research study. A preliminary and quantitative survey, which was extracted from the publications found on the ANPPOM´s site, identified 1398 works distributed in different subareas. Since these works represent, in most cases, partial results of the projects, which were developed by masters and doctoral students and researchers researchers affiliated in the Post-Graduate Programs, a qualitative analysis of this material may identify issues relevant for the development of research in music in Brazil.
