Clinical approach of premature lambs: evaluation of emergencial protocols for therapeutic stimulation of the respiratory activity

Abstract

The aim of the work is to evaluate the effectiveness of different therapeutical protocols in premature lambs to stimulate the respiratory activity. The animals will be divided in five groups with at least five animals each. That each group will receive a different treatment, with exception of group I that will be constituted by lamb in a term (145 days) and group II that it will be of premature lambs without any intervention. The lambs that will constitute group I will be born of normal delivery and the other prematures lambs will be born by cesarean section. Physical evaluation and termography will be realized immediately after the birth, at 60 minutes, at six, at 12, at 24 and at 48 hours after the born. The blood samples will be collect in these same moments and realize of the blood gas analysis, complete blood count, liver and kidney profile, glucose, lactate, cortisol, insulina and determination of protein fractions by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. To evaluate the pulmonary pattern will be conducted radiographic examination at immediately born, at 24 and at 48 hours of life. The variable will be submitted to the variance analysis (ANOVA), to determine if it has difference between the groups and the moments, with level of significance of 5%. (AU)
