Abstract

The history of Agricultural Geography was not yet mapped regards the actuation of teaching and research networks in the formation of Brazilian research centers. Therefore, the objective of this work is to understand the changes in the approaches of the Brazilian Agricultural Geography, regards the teaching and research networks formation, from 1934 to 2010, based on the five principal teaching and research centers: University of Sao Paulo, UFRJ, UNESP -Rio Claro, IBGE and UFPE/ Joaquim Nabuco Institute. The choice for the centers of teaching and research was made because of their importance for the geography institutionalization, formation of Brazilian intellectuals, and their participation in changing approaches in Agricultural Geography. The research will be built, especially, through the analysis of theses and dissertations, as well as interviews with academicians from the centers of research and teaching and also from other important institutions for the understanding of changes in interpretation of rural areas and agriculture in Brazil.
