Evaluation of glomerular tubulointerstitial changes in bitches with mammary neoplasia

Abstract

It is proposed with this essay to evaluate possible glomerular and tubular abnormalities in bitches with mammary cancer in order to investigate possible correlations between the degree of histology of mammary cancer and kidney damage. Ten animals will be used for control and 30 bitches with diagnosis of mammary cancer from the Oncology Service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital "Governador Laudo Natel" of Faculdade de Ciências Agrárias e Veterinárias - UNESP, câmpus de Jaboticabal. The experimental protocol includes the obtaining of data related to clinical and pathological blood count, serum biochemistry, urinary fractional excretion of sodium, electrophoresis of serum and urinary proteins and blood pressure. In addition, bitches with mammary cancer will be submitted to renal biopsy in the occasion of ovariohysterectomy and will also undergo mastectomy. The kidney samples will be evaluated by light microscopy, immunofluorescence and electron microscopy at the Laboratório de Patologia Renal da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto (USP). (AU)
