Abstract

The project presented deals with the development and application of the sea surface temperature (SST) methods of forecasting using coupled ocean-atmosphere model. This is extremely important both the scientifical and practical purposes. The project are focused on the Tropical Atlantic region because the SST distribution in this region is strongly connected with the weather and climate prediction for Brazil Also, the data assimilation technique for the PIRATA project is assumed to be specially developed for SST forecasts. It will allow us to use the temperature and salinity profiles and significantly improve the initial ocean temperature and salinity state for forecasting. The sensitivity experiments aimed to determ the variability of forecasting are also suggested to be carried out. (AU)
