Abstract

This document presents a research proposal with the objective of obtaining financial support for a technical visit of Professor Jorn S. Hansen, from the University of Toronto; Institute for Aerospace Studies (UTIAS) to the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA). The research deals with the buckling and post-buckling of stiffened composite panels and shells, which are of direct relevance to the aerospace industry. The objective in this work is to obtain a complete understanding of the interaction between initial panel buckling and final collapse in order to obtain optimal design strategies for these important composite components. This work is part of a cooperative effort between ITA and Embraer to develop advanced aeronautical composite structures. (AU)
