Abstract

Developmental stuttering arises during childhood, in the period of language acquisition and development, and remains chronic. The purpose of this research is investigate the relationship between speech disruptions on function and content words in the spontaneos speech of children, adolescents and adults with and without stuttering. Participants will be 100 individuals with ages between 3 and 40 years, of both genders, divided in two groups. GI will be subdivided in 5 groups according to age. GII (control) will follow the same division. All of the participants will be residents of the city of SP. All of the speech samples will be analised classifying all of the produced words in either function or contetnt words. Th obtained data will represent a possible developmento of the speech disruptions - in the early ages it is expected that this speech disruptions will occur mainly on function words; with the development of the semantic patterns this disruptions will occur mainly on content words. The results of the study are pioneer for the Brazilian Portuguese language and will be compared to the results obtained in other languages. (AU)
