Abstract

The Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method is nowadays a well-established technique, and it has been recognized as an extremely powerful technique capable of predicting an almost unlimited variety of rarefied flowfields in the transition flow regime. Professor Ivanov, head of the Computational Aerodynamics Laboratory at ITAM, Russia, has been working for decades in the development of the DSMC method. In this context, Professor Ivanov was invited to colaborate as a visiting researcher in the projects that have been developted by the DSMC group in the Combustion and Propulsion Laboratory at INPE. In addition, Professor Ivanov will teach a short course on DSMC method.(More details on the work plan can be found in the attached document "Proposal for a visiting researcher"). (AU)
