Abstract

PROFESSOR EMÍLIA FERNANDES GARCIA IN BRAZILDuring the months of March and April 2008, Dr. Emília Fernandes Garcia was in Brazil as visitor professor to our School of Physical Education - State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). In that period, she participated of the activities of the Research Group Body and Education, coordinated by Professor Helena Altmann. One of the results of that exchange was the elaboration of a research project entitled "School Physical Education and Equality of Gender: a transcultural study ". Such a project establishes a partnership between UNICAMP and Complutense University of Madrid. This research is financial supported by CNPQ (Process no. 402787/2008-0), initiated in December 2008 and with previous conclusion by December 2010. According to the Project, this research analyzes the gender relationships in physical education classes, facing the situations of equality and inequality of gender present in those classes. Through the questionnaires, the research identifies the sporting experiences and with other corporal practices of boys and girls, their interests in relation to them, and also the way they notice them, in way to understand how that interferes in the physical education classes. Comparisons will be made between the obtained results starting from the application of the questionnaires in statistical samples of the metropolitan areas of Campinas, Brazil, and Madrid, Spain. The questionnaires have already been applied in Brazil and in Spain and they are being analyzed. Next year, the comparative analysis of those questionnaires is in the arrangements. The main aim of the visit of the professor Emília Fernandes Garcia in Brazil is to work in the data analysis of this research, comparing the obtained results in Brazil and in Spain. (AU)
