Abstract

The aim of the project is to studying the dynamical and many-body properties of confined electrons in one and two dimensions on the liquid helium surface. The coupled electron-ripplon-phonon spectrum will be determined for the electron chain from the solution of classical coupled equations of motion. The obtained spectrum is important for the experimental study of the liquid-solid transition in the chain. The magnetoplasmon dispersion relation will be evaluated using the memory function formalism for the itinerant phase of the multisubband electron 1D system. Finally, the lifetime of the excited state of the qubit (two-level electron system on the surface of helium proposed for quantum computation) due to the environment coupling will be determined from the equation for the density operator.
