Abstract

The scientific collaboration between researchers and research groups is, nowadays, a confident path for the development of new technologies in a competitive and globalized world. Thus, the visit of foreign researchers promotes ideas and knowledge exchange guaranteeing the country technological development. By Dr. Raúl García Carrodeguas' recent publications and collaboration works with Brazilian research groups it is possible to certify that his visit to the Science and Technology Institute of the Federal University of São Paulo (ICT/UNIFESP) and to Mechanical Engineering School of the State University of Campinas (FEM/UNICAMP) would be very profitable for the development of the research groups involved. At the ICT/UNIFESP, Dr. Carrodeguas will visit BIOCERAM which is coordinated by Prof. Mariana Motisuke and Eliandra de Sousa Trichês. At this group, methodologies for synthesizing and processing bioceramics are studied for the development of biocomposites and bone cements. At the School of Mechanical Engineering (FEM) it will be visited the Laboratory of Biomaterials and Biomechanics (Labiomec) facilities under Dr. Cecília Zavaglia responsibility who supervises research works in the metallic, ceramic and polymeric biomaterials field. Meetings between the visiting professor and the research groups' members will be promoted to discuss new collaboration projects. In addition, there will be a visit to the INCT-Biofabris. It is a multidisciplinary national institute that aims the integration of computational tools to synthesize new biomaterials and the application of engineering techniques to obtain biomedical devices and biological substitutes to living tissue or organs. Therefore, it is expected to build a strong and productive scientific collaboration to develop new research lines in the field of bioactive materials. Dr. Raúl García Carrodeguas' professional background would contribute to the development of our scientific group's research projects. This visit would allow an enhanced scientific collaboration to build a strong professional and academic relationship to promote collaboration works and knowledge exchange. The visit of the Prof. Carrodeguas is also important for other research groups at UNIFESP and UNICAMP which are also working in the Biomaterials field. The time he will spend at our research group would be mainly utilized to the development of new collaboration projects. The visiting professor has been working collaboratively with Brazilian research groups (UNICAMP, Ufscar and UFRGS) since 2002. (AU)
