Abstract

The doctor-patient relationship is one of the pillars of medicine, but relegated to scientific research. We chose as relevant to be taught the proper use of time, the contradiction between the priorities brought by the patient and those considered by the physician and, especially, the person-centered approach focusing on feelings, fears and expectations of each patient. Objective: To implement and evaluate a methodology for structured observation of videotaped consultations called "Problem Based Interview" (PBI). Methodology: two groups will be formed with 15 (fifteen) people. A student will be the fifth or sixth year of the Faculty of Medicine of University of São Paulo and the other will be residents of Family and Community Medicine at the same institution. The course will be optional for students and residents at this stage of the project, and each class will be eighteen sections. The student will have completed the course if he/she has attended fifteen sections or more, with at least one visit recorded and analyzed accordingly "Problem Based Interview" methodology. Expected results: It is expected an improvement in communication skills of students and residents at the end of fifteen sections of PBI to be evaluated by comparing the queries of ten students who passed the course and ten students of the same year that did not pass made by teachers not involved in the same.
