Abstract

The Genomic Engenharia Molecular company specializes in the development and commercialization of diagnostic tests in medical, veterinary and agricultural areas using molecular biology techniques. During the process of setting up diagnostic tests based on the automatic sequencing of DNA, the company encountered a large number of viable alternative techniques and a total lack of data which would allow the comparison of the methods regarding quality, reproducibility, cost and the possibility of automation. This project aims to overcome this difficulty by means of a comparative analysis of the different techniques currently available in the academic world, but as yet not widely used in the industrial environment. This project, during its first phase, will provide comparative data on the cost and the benefits of these methods based not on theoretical studies, but on practical use. (AU)
