Abstract
The home is par excellence the place of recognition and belonging that anchors the self in its mirroring relationship with objects of the world. The Freudian “Unheimlich” concept introduces a rift in harmonization between the person and the habitat. The familiar is also the uncanny that we do not recognize or assimilate as being a part of the set. Interrogating the habitat based on the rift opened by Freud will allow us to circumscribe the uninhabitable through the study of some names. (AU)
