Magnetocaloric effect and barocaloric effect: new experimental techniques, materials and theoretical models

Abstract

In this experimental/theoretical/applied project, I propose: to prepare and characterize new magnetic materials and most of them have great potential to present high values of magnetocaloric effect and/or barocaloric effect; to develop and improve theoretical models, which will be useful to analyze and understand the physical behavior of several of the those materials; to develop a new experimental setup to measure the barocaloric effect directly; to improve a technique of measuring the magnetocaloric effect directly; to develop a new model of a thermomagnetic switch. Besides, this project will be useful to the scientific training of students from UNIFESP and to the improvement of the research infrastructure of the incipient campus in São José dos Campos. (AU)
