Abstract

This plan integrates research project activities related to the study of relationships between relief, lithology, soils and drainage, addressing various time-spatial scales. In this regard, several studies have been developed within this theme in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Paraná, by the proponent and their students. This proposal will seek to advance, especially in the study of river captures, which is a subject little known and little studied in Brazil nowadays, especially when it comes to interaction geomorphology, lithology, hydrology, and soils. Many of the articles found on river captures have not and how this interaction results, it is clear that soils are excluded from this context. We note that, due to the research being developed by the applicant, which are the soils also have an important role in the phenomenon of river capture. The same kind of soil have appeared in the wind gaps, where there was supposed to be the capture process occurred. This hypothesis is still in the embryonic stage and needs more detailed studies. The surveys relate need field work with maps, photo interpretation and laboratory analysis of soil samples. This research focuses on assisting the preservation of areas of study, their use and management, because many of these areas are in areas of great environmental interest, besides the formation and development of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
