Abstract

Regarding published orthodontic researches that assess microscopically animals periodontum, an issue that must be improved is to standardize both methodology and data collection protocols, once several of them are limited only by histopathological descriptions. The aim of this study is to establish the macroscopic metric values and histometric protocols to standardize histopathological observations, especially when are involved parasagittal mesiobuccal and distobuccal superior first molar roots of young rats under dental induced movement. The present study will assess 20 hemimaxilas of Wistar rats, in which macroscopic sections will follow a pre-established protocol. Histological sections of periodontum will be assessed by histometry to define the tolerance average values and consider them suitable for analysis. Therefore the several histological cuts among the different groups will be ensured regarding the same histological cuts level, with similar structures and histometric values. (AU)
