Using the institutional research contingency funds to access ANSP Network

Abstract

This project refers to the application of the Institutional Research Contingency Funds to Access ANSP Network. According to FAPESP, this aims to partially fund the Internet access. The resources will be dedicated to the implementation of a new connection betwen UNIVAP and INPE, which is the ANSP/RNP nearest primary institution. In February 2013 UNIVAP was officially accepted as a RNP-network user Institution. Nowadays we have an old radio link with INPE, running very precarious, that connects us to the ANSP. This connection, however, is based on old obsolete equipment. Besides, the direct line of sight to INPE was lost due to the construction of buildings, so the signal we get is unstable and by reflection. This way our internet connection is done mostly through paid links contracted with telephone companies. Recently, INPE's internet connection with RNP/ANSP had its bandwidth increased significantly, which will allow us a connection of optimum quality. This project aims to present a proposal to spend this Contingency Funds for the year 2012, which includes as the main item the acquisition of equipment for radio connection with INPE. The Fundação Valeparaibana de Ensino, which maintains UNIVAP, undertakes to bear the cost of installing the equipment, the amount of which is similar to the equipment itself. (AU)
