Abstract

This project aims the economic viability of sustainable systems of goat and sheep production in family-scale farms through capacitation and training of both farmers and technical degree students, be those already work or have interest to begin in this activity, thus stimulating the social inclusion. Previous diagnoses of small properties is São Paulo's state showed the need of implementation of technologies that make possible meat production under grazing systems and thus improving cattle health, focusing in the production of safe food by family-level farmers. Commercialization of unique products will allow increasing social-economic conditions of families, and also will improve the livestock production of sheep and goats in small scale, which minimize negative impact to the environment, the project will be conducted in two different but linked line: besides capacitation and training of farmers and students, we will investigate issues that demand technology transfer to increase the goat and sheep productive chain in the southwestern São Paulo.
