Abstract

The prevalence of infectius-inflammatory diseases of the airways is extremely high in the general population. The treatment of the rhinosinusitis can lead to several lines of conduct. Besides there are a variety of clinical patterns and predisposing factors, besides associated situations that hinder the understanding of the understanding of the rhinosinusitis. Therefore, there is a necessity of creating appropriate experimental models for the clinical study of it, where the control of the confusion factors can be better established. Objective: we suggested a study to establish a trustworthy, solid and reprodutible experimental model for the inflammatory rhinosinusitis without the inoculation of infectious agents' in albine guinea pigs. Material and Method: The animals will be followed by 14 days and at the end will be anesthetized and aleatoraly sacrificed, according to the study groups follow-up period. A total of 30 albine guinea pigs weighting about 450g will be used. The animals will be submitted to 5 different interventions - placement of an unilateral nasal fossae sponge, unilateral instilation of platelet activation factor (PAF), obliteration of nasal osteum with cianoacrilate, atmosphere control with maintainance of adverse temperature and humidity and instilation of blood in the maxillary cavity. The animals will be followed for periods of 3 days, 5 days and 14 days. The maxillaries sinuses will be appraised histologicaly and the results compared with the controls and among the intervention groups. (AU)
