Abstract

With objective to verify the cardiorespiratory effects, sedative and antinociceptive effects of lidocaine, dexmedetomidine and dexmedetomidine/lidocaine via epidural in sheep, will be used 6 animals, males, Santa Ines, clinically healthy, with an average weight of 40 kg. They will be randomly assigned into 3 groups of six animals in blinded crossover study, respecting the minimum interval of 7 days between treatments. The treatments are designated as L (1.2 mg/kg lidocaine), D (dexmedetomidine 2.5 microg/kg) and GDL (dexmedetomidine 2.5 microg/kg + 1.2 mg/kg of lidocaine) applied via epidural catheter inserted into the lombosacral epidural space. Will be evaluated parameters of heart and respiratory rate, systolic, mean and diastolic blood pressure, rectal temperature, hydrogen potential in arterial blood (pHa), partial pressure of oxygen in arterial blood (PaO2), partial pressure of carbon dioxide in arterial blood (PaCO2), arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2), bicarbonate (HCO3), base deficit (DEB), sedative and antinociceptive aspects. Data will be collected in the moments M0 to M480, corresponding to M0: baseline, 15, 30, 60, 120, 240 and 480 minutes after drug administration, a total of eight hours of evaluation. The results will be tested using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test. When presenting normal distribution will be employed analysis of variance (ANOVA) for repeated measures and Bonferroni's complementary analysis and variables with normal distribution are compared with the Wilcoxon test. The significance level is 5%. (AU)
