Abstract
The work presents an analysis of the criticism of Walter Benjamin and Antonio Candido in a comparative perspective. At first will be examined the founding critical works of both authors. Afterwards will be traced a comparison between their conceptions of history, taking account of their respective cultural contexts. The work ends with the analyses of some essential essays of Benjamin and Candido in association with the experience dimension. We point out that the principal contribution of both critics is the understanding of the history through the formal sources of the literary work. (AU)
