Abstract

This work focuses on an inverse problem that involves an partial differencial linear operator of forth order that appears in the model of beams vibrating under the influence of an unknown source. The main goal is to prove that the spatial distribution of the loading, composed as a finite sum of term of the form $g_{n}(t) f_{n}(x)$ can be uniquely determined if the displacement of the beam over an arbitrary small open set is known. As an extension of the work, by using the uniqueness result just obtained, we propose to also prove that the flexural rigidity along the beam can be uniquely identified. (AU)
