Abstract

This concerns the evaluation of the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) of the Nelore bovine race of pure imported origin (POI), compared with the genome of the taurine mtDNA, survey of the existing polymorphisms within the Nelore race in the PO and POI animals existing in the principal national herds participating in the Genetic Improvement Program of the Nelore race, in which there will be evaluation of the maternal effects on productivity, sexual precocity and reproductive performance of the animals within the different polymorphisms in the mtDNA. Studies of the basic information of oxidative phosphorylation, morphology and mitochondrial segregation between the polymorphisms found, aiming to identify a genetic marker linked to productivity and reproductibility in the race.
