Abstract

Recently a method of modeling and animation of cartoons named cartoons 2.5D models was presented. The method aims, from a set of different views of a cartoon style ( eg top , side and front ) drawn on a plane, automatically create animation effects for spatial rotation. Despite the promising results from the artistic point of view, the method was restricted to objects filled with solid colors and no lighting effect results. In this project we propose to study and develop robust and efficient methods for simulation of 2.5D cartoons that remove the limitations of filling with solid colors, making the richer in detail drawings. Also as a relevant part of the project is the development of prototype applications for modeling and animating 2.5D that consider the particularities of this type of design. (AU)
