Abstract

Minimally invasive surgery, such as laparoscopy, causing minor trauma and attenuate the stress response. Moreover, oxidative stress is nonetheless an integral part of the response to surgery. However pneumoperitoneum or pneumoretroperitoneum remains involved in the production of free radicals. Purpose: Our study aims to assess the effects of pneumoperitoneum in the lungs of animals by insufflation of carbon dioxide (simulating a laparoscopy). Methods: this study five groups (n = 6 per group), following: Sham: without peritoneal insufflations; IAP5: use of intra-abdominal pressure of 5 cmH2O carbon dioxide; IAP8: using intra-abdominal pressure of 8 cmH2O carbon dioxide IAP10: using intra-abdominal pressure of 10 cmH2O carbon dioxide; IAP12: using intra-abdominal pressure of 12 cmH2O carbon dioxide. At the end of the experiment will perform the euthanasia of animals and we will remove the lungs for analysis of oxidative stress and inflammatory mediators. Statistical analysis will be made using the Friedman test for repeated measures in multiple groups, Kruskal-Wallis test for intergroup comparison, Mann-Whitney test for comparison between paired groups. The results are considered statistically significant when the values of the probability ( p ) is < 0.05. (AU)
