Abstract
It is proposed with this essay to evaluate renal disorders in dogs naturally infected with Ehrlichia canis in the subclinical phase and without clinical signs. Ten animals will be used for control group and 15 with diagnosis of ehrlichiosis by indirect immunofluorescence and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) from the Veterinary Hospital, UNESP, Jaboticabal-SP and the Veterinary Hospital of Universidade de Franca (UNIFRAN), Franca-SP. The experimental protocol includes the obtaining the clinical and laboratorial data of the animals, followed by renal biopsy performed by percutaneous technique using Tru-cut® ultrasound-guided or laparoscopy. Samples will be evaluated by light, immunofluorescence and transmission electron microscopy at the Laboratório de Patologia Renal da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto (USP). In addition to the above tests will also be evaluate CBC, serum biochemistry, urinary fractional excretion of electrolytes, electrophoresis of serum and urinary proteins and blood pressure. (AU)
