FOXP3 e IMP3: impact on the evolution of different clinical subtypes of cutaneous melanoma

Abstract

ResumeFour percent of the skin cancers are melanomas. Its incidence in Brazil was around 6230 new cases in the year of 2012. Therefore, it revealed a rising as the years pass by and it is 15 times faster than any malignancy. It s a more rare type of tumor, besides until 1/5 of the patients develops metastasis, frequently attached to death, and it occurs in younger people comparing to other cancers. There is a need for more studies in order to evaluate the use of imunohistochemistry markers, keeping in mind the additional cost by adding multiple markers and the benefit of enhancing diagnosis and to the patient at all. Objective: The main goal of this study is to evaluate different clinical types of melanoma, to know about the expression of imunohistochemistry markers over them and try to stabilish a relationship between this expression and prognosis. Material and Methods: Analytical observational study on anatomopathological species from patients attended on Clinical Hospital of Botucatu s Medicine Faculty. They were submitted to surgery between 2003 to 2008. This corresponds to 89 patients. The relationship between presence of these markers and clinical subtype, prognosis and survival will be analysed by association measures of quantitative and qualitative varies. (AU)
