Abstract
The activities proposed in this project are related to the application of low-cost piezoelectric transducers to detect structural damage, allowing the development of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) systems in various types of structures. The detection of structural damage is based on the electromechanical (E/M) impedance technique, which stands out among the other techniques for its simple methodology and using low-cost piezoelectric transducers. In this project, the proposal is to explore the new trends that have recently emerged and bring new challenges. Among these new trends, highlight the use of new piezoelectric transducers, the new methods for the installation of transducers in the monitored structure, and new applications such as the monitoring and evaluation of grinding process.Based on the scientific relevance and the results obtained in previous funding, it is expected that this research will result in relevant papers published in indexed international journals, and the advising of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
