Abstract

This equipment is a robot for 96 and 384 plates. It will be used for sample preparation in the genotyping and sequencing phases of the project, for serial dilution, sample normalization and library preparation. This equipment will allow a much faster and precise preparation of the samples for genotyping and sequencing. The sample preparation for genotyping is a crucial step. The genotyping chips are very expensive and the robot improves the quality of the results. It is important to mention that Affymetrix donated the genotyping equipment to the laboratory. This company is the only one that produces the high-density chicken chips that will be used in the project. We asked Affymetrix to donate the robot also. However, since they donate the genotyping equipment, about U$ 350.000,00, they did no donate the robot. For this reason, we are asking Fapesp to purchase the robot.This equipment will be available to all the user of the Genomics Core Facility that we have at ESALQ. (AU)
