Abstract

Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is a malign neoplasm with high incidence on worldwide population. It presents low growth, elevated prevalence of metastasis, however it has a good prognosis. Its main treatment, according National Cancer Institute (NCI, USA), is chirurgical with total ressection of thyroid and prophylactic ipsilateral radical neck dissection in case of lymph nodal involvement. When there is no lymph node involvement, the realization of prophylactic dissection is controversial. One of the difficults found in the treatment of thyroid cancer is the skip metastasis, which leads to the appearance of metastasis in lymph nodes without side affect the lymph nodes of the central compartment. This project aims to analyze the lymphatic drainage of the upper pole and lower pole of the thyroid with nanocolloid lymphoscintigraphy and postoperatively in patients undergoing partial thyroidectomy and preservation of one lobe of the thyroid. It is a cross-sectional study with 40 patients and will be conducted at the Hospital of the Faculty of Medicine of Marilia, Brazil. (AU)
