Abstract

The visit of Dr. Eric Schuettpelz, to the new Molecular Biology Laboratory of the Herbarium SP, Instituto de Botânica, aims to strengthen the partnership we have to study the phylogeny and evolution of some groups of ferns and lycophytes. We must also establish, according to the reality of our laboratory, a standardized routine to follow the extraction and PCR protocols developed by Dr. Eric and used in his lab at the Smithsonian Institution. These activities aim to put into effective operation the new laboratory within an international standard of the research group in which we operate. Dr. Eric will also give a lecture with the theme of general interest of taxonomists. (AU)
