Abstract

The project consists on the development of a current source's digital regulation module prototype to be used in the project of the new synchrotron light source of the LNLS. This module has two electronic boards: a signal conversion board (HRADC - High Resolution Analogic Digital Converter) and a control and data processing board (UDC - Universal Digital Controller). The HRADC board receives an analog signal as a measurement of the current, convert it to a digital signal with an 18-bit minimum resolution, and sent it to the UDC board. The UDC receives this signal, compares it with a reference and implements the current loop control. As the result, the board send a PWM command to the current source. The LNLS team has already a prototype of these two boards under tests. During this test some needs of improvement are being raised, for example the inclusion of a processing device (which could be a FPGA) that allows the performance of some pre-processing (filtering, average, disposal of samples, etc.) before sending the signal to the UDC board. The methodology adopted in this project begins with an initial evaluation of the available project documentation, the results of the tests already performed, the needs raised and the difficulties found. After this analysis, we will propose a new version of the schematics. It will be done the layout of the new boards, the production and test of the boards. The software of the two boards will be developed. It will be developed also a system to test the boards. (AU)
