Abstract

The proposal of the present project is the study of the fungi in the terrestrial (soil and leaf litter) and aquatic environment (leaf litter), comparing the diversity of a Lothic system ("Rio do Monjolinho" stream, in the municipality of São Carlos, in the state of São Paulo) with a Lenthic system ("Represa do Guarapiranga" dam), situated in regions under different degrees of antropic influence. The ergosterol content of the submerged leaf litter (taken from the two aquatic systems) is going to be used to estimate the colonization of organic substrates by aquatic fungi. The results of the project may give support to further studies about the conservation of the biodiversity of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. (AU)
