Uniqueness in the identification of damage in Euler-Bernoulli beams in the non linear case

Abstract

The proof of uniqueness for obtaining the flexural stiffness through the observation of a single point in an arbitrarily small time interval has already been obtained previously (Proj. FAPESP 2013 / 20305-0), when the original problem was linearized. Numerical simulations are being conducted under a research project funded by FAPESP (2014 / 23259-2) have shown that the knowledge of the history of the displacement of a point during any interval of time would be enough to determine uniquely the function that describes the beam's flexural rigidity. The present proposal aims at the experimental verification of the possibility of identifying flexural stiffness perturbations in Euler-Bernoulli beams. (AU)
