Abstract

This research aims to investigate signs of national identity in Villa-Lobos's music, according theories of musical meaning. Some previous works in the field of musical analysis applied to Villa-Lobos's work are the starting point, that will be associated to Mario de Andrade's ideas on nationalism aside proposal of Latin America music topics made by Melanie Plesch and Acácio Piedade.
